The Lake Waikaremoana Motorcamp offers a range of comfortable accommodation in serene isolation. Situated on the bank of the lake, in Opourau, Home Bay. It is a spacious site with nature right at its doorstep.
Nestled between the lake edge and surrounding bush, the Motor Camp is just a short walk to the Aniwaniwa Visitors Centre and a lot of the walks in this region. Its proximity to many great fishing spots and a well-stocked fishing selection and fishing licences in the shop make the Motor Camp a fisherman's dream or a great family holiday spot.
Fuel pumps on-site (Unleaded 91 & 96 and Diesel.)
You are in the midst of Te Urewera, the third largest National park in New Zealand, and the largest remaining tract of Native Forest in the North Island. The primeaval rain-forest is home to many native birds and remains today as virgin as it was in the 1840's, when Pioneer Missionary William Colenso traversed this remote homeland of Tuhoe, “Children of the Mist”.
