Kick off your shoes and take a deep breath of fresh air….you’re on holiday at Omokoroa Thermal Holiday Park.
Stay with us and enjoy comfortable private accommodation set in our beautiful flower gardens. Our three hot mineral pools are the most exquisite way to relax – any time of year, day or night.
You will find our pretty, peaceful holiday park in Omokoroa, Bay of Plenty.
We are but a short walk from calm harbour waters, picturesque ocean views and fun to be had sailing, fishing, swimming, kayaking and picnicking.
We have Internet access here at the park so you can keep in touch with work or home!
Omokoroa Thermal Holiday Park is perfectly located midway between two famous beaches – Mount Maunganui Beach and Waihi Beach – both just a 30 minute drive away and perfect for a day trip.
At both of these very popular beaches you’ll find miles of white sand and blue surf. Take your surfboards and body boards because the waves can be pumping!
At Mount Maunganui you’ll find a dynamic beach culture and a cosmopolitan lifestyle. There are Oceanside cafes and bars and great shopping. You can try kite surfing or Blo-Karting (land-based sail craft) when the winds up, or just dig your toes into the sand and enjoy the sun. Walk around (or up!) the towering Mount Maunganui for excellent views and great picnic spots.
Opposite the beach is the tranquil harbour at Pilot’s Bay, an excellent spot for swimming (no waves), kayaking or fishing off the main jetty.
Waihi Beach is a smaller community but can the beach can be just as busy during summer!
Matakana Island:
Take the vehicle ferry (or your own boat or kayak) from Omokoroa harbour to Matakana Island (Te Motutere). This long island forms the sand barrier between Tauranga Harbour and the South Pacific Ocean. As such, Matakana Island has beautifully sheltered white sand beaches on its harbour side and some excellent surf on its ocean side.
For decades, a ferry has linked Matakana Island with Omokoroa on the mainland. Today the ferry makes the return journey four times daily.
Visit a sacred local Marae and enjoy genuine Maori hospitality. Receive a traditional Maori welcome (powhiri) go fishing or hunting for kaimoana (seafood) and smoke your own fish! Learn about the history of Matakana Island from your friendly hosts.
You can also take a historical tour of the island with Matakana Island Tours, exploring the islands farms, orchards and more by Clydesdale-drawn coach and stopping at a pristine private beach. A BBQ Lunch is included.
